Past theatre and drama work
All the latest and greatest
Freelance drama and theatre facilitator
2005 onwards
I introduce drama to both deaf and hearing people, ranging in age, by giving them the opportunity to explore drama.
We experiment with drama by playing games and encouraging citizenship within the workshops. I encourage all ages to consider their potential for getting involved with drama. I ensure each project is organised and run smoothly whilst having regular contact with the organisation I am working with. I plan the workshops, prepare resources and materials and source items for the project.
BSL residential theatre week
Summer 2017 and 2018
I taught mask workshops, acting techniques, BSL poems, script-writing, characterisations and BSL on stage to a diverse group of over 18s, with a range of abilities, in order to prepare them on their journey to becoming actors at college, university and in their future careers. The students created, devised and performed their own polished creations to a live audience helping to promote their confidence and development as actors. This was under Word of Hands.
DeDrama Theatre
2012 to 2015
DeDrama was a voluntary theatre group I set up in September, 2012. DeDrama stands for Diversity Equality Drama. The focus was on accessibility for both Deaf and hearing people using a combination of visual theatre and sign language on stage.
InteGreat Theatre
2010 to 2013
InteGreat Theatre is an adult drama group based in Birmingham. Rehearsals were held at the Hippodrome Theatre and the final performance took place at The Rep Theatre. www.integreattheatre.org.uk
The group had the following aims:
To introduce a variety of skills in drama, acting, improvisation and characterisation
To encourage communication and partnership between Deaf and hearing adults
To devise two final performances: ‘SignSational’ and 'Monopoly' with 15 committed participators over the course of one year.
I co-worked with Angela Twigg to prepare, devise and plan as well as work closely with the participators.
